Why consider individual counselling?

Life can throw us curve-balls that are challenging, and sometimes we need some extra support along the way. In individual therapy, you’ll work one-on-one with a licensed therapist who will provide a safe, non-judgmental space to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Together, you’ll address whatever challenges you’re facing—whether it’s managing stress, overcoming anxiety, dealing with depression, or working through relationship issues. For some people, they come into therapy knowing exactly what they need help addressing, whereas for others, they don’t know how to pinpoint what is causing their problems. Your therapist will help you gain clarity, develop healthy coping strategies, and work toward your personal goals. Each session is tailored to your unique needs, and you’ll have the freedom to set the pace of your healing journey.

I have seen time and time again how individual counselling can offer someone the kind of personalized support they need to tap into their natural resiliency to problem solve, overcome, and grow from the challenges they are facing.

We offer two formats of counselling

Phone Counselling

Simply pick up the phone and connect with your therapist. You can schedule phone sessions at a time that works best for you. This format is ideal for those who may feel more comfortable speaking over the phone, or who are looking for a more convenient, low-barrier option. Phone counselling also offers flexibility for people who may not have access to video equipment or prefer more anonymity.

This format might be suitable for those individuals who appreciate additional anonymity.

Video Counselling

Experience live, face-to-face counselling from the comfort of your home using Jane App’s secure and fully-compliant telehealth video software. This format mimics an in-person session, allowing you to interact with your therapist in real time. Video sessions are perfect for those who value the visual connection and body language cues that come with seeing your therapist during your conversation. A reliable internet connection is necessary for this option.

This format is suitable for those who would like to see their therapist as they would in a face-to-face session.

Note that a reliable internet connection is a necessity for video sessions.

Our Individual Counselling Process: A Collaborative Journey of Healing and Growth

We believe in a personalized approach to therapy that’s centered around your unique needs and goals. Here’s an overview of the supportive process you can expect

Starting the Conversation: Connecting with You

Your first step is to simply reach out and begin the conversation. In this initial phase, we take the time to get to know you and understand what’s bringing you to therapy. We’ll discuss your concerns, listen to your experiences, and begin to build a trusting relationship where you feel safe, heard, and respected.

Understanding Your Story: Getting to the Heart of the Matter

Understanding Your Story: Getting to the Heart of the Matter Once we’ve connected, we’ll dive deeper into your personal story—whether it’s your individual journey or your shared experiences as a couple. In this phase, we’ll explore the challenges you’re facing, understand your emotional landscape, and assess where you’d like to see change. This helps us get a clearer picture of where you are and where you’d like to go.

Setting Goals: Creating a Roadmap for Your Progress

With a shared understanding of your challenges and aspirations, we’ll work together to set specific, realistic goals for therapy. These goals will guide our work and help us stay focused on the changes that matter most to you. Whether you want to manage stress, strengthen your relationship, or increase self-awareness, goal-setting helps provide direction and clarity.

Taking Action: Exploring Solutions and Strategies

In this phase, we get to work. Using various therapeutic techniques and approaches, we’ll address the issues you’ve identified and begin to implement strategies to move forward. Whether you’re learning new coping skills, improving communication, or processing emotions, we’ll help you build the tools you need for lasting change. This is where the real work happens—and we’ll be there to support you every step of the way.

Reflecting and Adjusting: Tracking Your Progress

Therapy is an ongoing collaborative process, and we’ll regularly check in on how things are going. In this phase, we’ll reflect on your progress, celebrate successes, and identify any areas that need more focus. We’ll adjust our approach as necessary to make sure we’re always moving toward the changes you want to see.
